Privacy policy
Effective October 19, 2026. We collect only what we need, use it only for the reason you gave it to us, and never sell it.
Who we are
Open Chapter Foundation, Inc. is a Georgia nonprofit corporation based in Atlanta. This policy covers openchapterfoundation.org, our email address, and the online forms linked from this site.
What we collect
- Founding supporters list: your name, email address, and anything you choose to tell us.
- Requests for veterinary help: your contact details, city and county, information about your pet and its care, your veterinary clinic, cost estimates, how much you can contribute, and any household circumstances you choose to share.
- Partnership inquiries and emails: whatever you include in your message.
Please don't send us Social Security, bank, or card numbers, passwords, or copies of bills unless we ask for a specific document.
How we use it
- To reply to you and review requests for help.
- To confirm a treatment plan and cost with your veterinarian, only with your permission.
- To pay approved grants directly to the veterinary clinic.
- To send updates you asked for, such as when donations open.
- To report on our work in summary form. We won't publish your name, your pet's story, or photos without your separate written permission.
Who we share it with
We don't sell, rent, or trade your information. We share it only:
- With your veterinarian or rescue, as needed to review and pay for care you've asked us to help with.
- With service providers that run our tools: Google (Forms and Gmail) and Cloudflare (website hosting and email forwarding). This site loads fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address.
- When required by law, or to protect the safety of a person or animal.
How long we keep it
We keep request and grant records as long as we need them to manage grants and meet nonprofit record-keeping and tax requirements. We remove supporters from our list when they ask.
Cookies and tracking
This website doesn't use advertising or analytics cookies. Google Forms may set its own cookies when you open a form; see Google's privacy policy.
Your choices
You can ask us to show you, correct, or delete the information we hold about you, or to remove you from our updates, by emailing hello@openchapterfoundation.org. We'll respond within 30 days. Some grant records may need to be kept for legal or tax reasons.
Children
Our site and forms are meant for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update it here and change the effective date above.
